- If using fresh green beans, trim the ends and blanch in boiling salted water for 3-4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside. For frozen beans, thaw and drain thoroughly. If using canned beans, drain well.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together one can of condensed cream of mushroom soup, 3/4 cup of whole milk, and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce.
- Gently fold in the prepared green beans, 2/3 cup of crispy fried onions, and ground black pepper to the mixture.
- Transfer the green bean mixture to a greased 9x9-inch baking dish and bake for 25 minutes until bubbling and hot throughout.
- After the initial baking, sprinkle reserved crispy fried onions over the top and return to oven for an additional 5 minutes until golden brown.
