Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. If using fresh green beans, trim the ends and blanch in boiling salted water for 3-4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside. For frozen beans, thaw and drain thoroughly. If using canned beans, drain well.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together one can of condensed cream of mushroom soup, 3/4 cup of whole milk, and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce.
  4. Gently fold in the prepared green beans, 2/3 cup of crispy fried onions, and ground black pepper to the mixture.
  5. Transfer the green bean mixture to a greased 9x9-inch baking dish and bake for 25 minutes until bubbling and hot throughout.
  6. After the initial baking, sprinkle reserved crispy fried onions over the top and return to oven for an additional 5 minutes until golden brown.
