  2. Sauté the chopped onion for about 10 minutes, then add minced garlic for 30 seconds.

  4. Mix in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, and let simmer for 5 minutes.

  6. Simmer the sauce on low fire for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente.
  8. After draining the spaghetti, mix it with the sauce and reserved starchy pasta water as needed.
