- Warm your milk to 90 to 100°F and dissolve the SAF instant yeast in it.
- In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, sugar, and salt until well incorporated.
- Add the yeast mixture and the egg to the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Cover the bowl and let the batter rise for 30 minutes to 1 hour until bubbly.
- Preheat a poffertjes pan over medium heat and grease each divot with butter.
- Fill each divot halfway with batter and cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles form on the surface.
- Flip each poffertje using a skewer when golden brown and cook for a further 1-2 minutes.
- Remove and serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with butter or syrup.
