Baking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the applesauce, water, oil, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until smooth.
  3. Add in the flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and optional allspice. Stir until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, filling it about three-quarters full.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, frost with vegan-friendly icing or serve plain with powdered sugar or coconut whipped cream.
