- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the applesauce, water, oil, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until smooth.
- Add in the flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and optional allspice. Stir until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, filling it about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost with vegan-friendly icing or serve plain with powdered sugar or coconut whipped cream.
