Step-by-Step Instructions
- If using frozen meatballs, heat them in a saucepan over medium heat for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are heated through. If making fresh meatballs, combine ground beef or pork in a bowl with breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, beaten egg, and Italian seasonings. Roll the mixture into 1-1.5 inch meatballs and bake on a lined baking sheet at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- While the meatballs are cooking, slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls lengthwise but do not cut all the way through. Preheat your oven to 350°F and place the opened rolls cut-side up on a baking sheet. Toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until they are lightly golden.
- Once your meatballs are cooked and the rolls are toasted, it’s time to assemble your meatball subs. Place a few meatballs in each roll, generously spoon marinara sauce over the top, and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- Set your oven to broil. Place the assembled meatball subs on a baking sheet and position them about 6 inches from the heat source. Broil for approximately 2-4 minutes, keeping a close eye on them.
- Remove the meatball subs from the oven and let them cool for a minute. Serve them hot, garnished with fresh herbs like basil or parsley.
