Step-by-Step Instructions for Strawberry Cream Cheese Heart Danishes
  1. Thaw the puff pastry on the counter for about 30–60 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Mix cream cheese, white sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth; add red food coloring and fold in half of the diced strawberries.
  4. Roll out the thawed puff pastry, cut out heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
  5. Create a well in each heart and fill with 1–2 tablespoons of cream cheese mixture and top with remaining strawberries.
  6. Whisk the egg and cold water together; brush the edges of each pastry with the mixture.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes until puffed and golden-brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
