  • 2 slices Pancetta Bacon can be a delicious alternative.
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack Cheese Cheddar or provolone also work well.
  • 1 medium Tomato Choose vine-ripened or heirloom for best flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt Sea salt is a wonderful substitute.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly cracked for better flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic Glaze Balsamic vinegar can be used in a pinch.
For the Coleslaw
  • 2 cups Shredded Cabbage (Coleslaw Mix) Use a pre-packaged mix for convenience.
  • 1/4 cup Caesar Dressing Ranch dressing can be used instead.
For the Pesto Butter Spread
  • 2 tablespoons Pesto Sun-dried tomato pesto for a unique twist.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Olive oil offers a great dairy-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped Parsley Basil or arugula are alternatives.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • serrated knife
  • Small bowl

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Slice the ciabatta loaf in half horizontally using a serrated knife. Set the two halves aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine softened butter and pesto, mixing until well blended. Generously spread the mixture on the cut sides of the ciabatta halves.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Place the ciabatta halves in the air fryer cut side up. Air fry for about 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Layer your ingredients: start with a slice of cooked ham, followed by spicy salami, crispy pancetta, and fresh tomato slices. Sprinkle kosher salt on top.
  5. Top with Monterey Jack cheese. Return the sandwich to the air fryer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Sprinkle freshly cracked black pepper over the melted cheese. Add a handful of coleslaw mixture on top.
  7. Carefully close the sandwich with the second ciabatta half. Serve hot and slice in half for easier handling.

Ensure coleslaw is stored separately until serving to prevent sogginess. For best results, use an air fryer for a crispy texture.
