- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a spacious mixing bowl, combine the butternut squash cubes, sliced gala apples, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and brown sugar or honey. Toss gently until coated.
- Transfer the mixture into a lidded baking dish, spreading evenly. Add small pieces of butter on top and cover tightly. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven, uncover, and add golden raisins, dried cranberries, and chopped pecans or walnuts. Toss to combine.
- Cover and return to the oven for an additional 15 minutes until squash is tender.
- Remove from the oven, stir gently, and serve warm.
