Step-by-Step Instructions for Zucchini Lasagna with Ground Turkey
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice zucchinis into thin strips and sprinkle with salt. Let sit for 15-20 minutes to draw out moisture.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes. Then, add minced garlic and ground turkey, cooking until browned.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, a beaten egg (optional), and a pinch of salt. Mix until creamy.
- In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce, followed by zucchini noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat and finish with sauce and remaining mozzarella and parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden.
- Let rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
